Lifeline Ukraine is a national, professional, suicide prevention and mental health support helpline. The hotline is open to callers 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Ukraine loses veterans to suicide too frequently, and this problem must be addressed before it gets worse. Lifeline Ukraine, with the support of the British Embassy in Kyiv, will put veterans in a call centre to help their brothers and sisters in arms, any time, day or night.
Background
Lifeline Ukraine was founded by Paul Niland, an Irish writer and commentator and a 16 year resident of Ukraine. The project was initiated at the insistence of Ukraine’s Ministry of Health, and by the then Acting Health Minister Ulana Suprun. The project also enjoys support from the Ministries of Veterans’ Affairs and the Ministry of Social Policy.
