Your Role and Responsibilities

We seek a social and earned media metrics and intelligence analyst to join the Social Media + Influence team in Marketing and Communications. The successful candidate is metrics-driven and has a foundational understanding of social media metrics and intelligence and the importance it has in driving reach, engagement, and demand with key audiences.

  • Define key performance indicators and implement measurement and reporting to gauge the success of social media ongoing as well as big market moments
  • Ensure insights are actionable and help teams drive social media outcomes.
  • Design reporting and analytical models and data visualizations that provide the ability to measure and optimize IBM’s social content strategy
  • Automate data cleaning, transformation, categorization, and aggregation processes to improve team efficiencies and create additional bandwidth for team members
  • Build Boolean or Python queries and API Connections that monitor social conversations on key topics
  • Ongoing social listening to advance the mission and reputation of IBM, including market and competitive research, crisis monitoring, and ad hoc insights reporting
  • Monitor external IBM conversation and identify potential crises on social media; work with the appropriate teams to provide data-driven recommendations to protect IBM’s reputation
  • Enable social media professionals on social listening tools to foster real-time metrics analysis outside of scheduled and recurring wrap reporting workstreams
  • Work with vendors that supply reporting, analytics, and intelligence services, including internal intelligence MCC partners such as MD&I

We offer a dynamic blend of personal flexibility and a thriving in-office environment. This role requires three days of in-office presence per week, with two days for remote work.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

  • 5-7 years of experience in social analytics, data science, or similar data analysis field
  • Experience using data analytics and listening tools including Google Analytics, Knime, SPSS Modeler, Tableau, Meltwater, Brandwatch, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to build reporting dashboards that take inputs from several data sources
  • Ability to analyze and apply data-driven approaches to improve performance over time
  • Ability to explain your recommendations with confidence using data to support your POV
  • Experience working in large, highly matrixed organizations

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise

  • Large public company or agency experience supporting large public company clients preferred.
  • Experience working with highly matrixed organizations.
  • Experience working with social media analytics tools.
