Splunk
Description
At Splunk, we build systems that make data flow optimally and transform it into insights that help our engineering teams adapt quickly. The Data Flow & Insights team is responsible for how internal data moves, transforms, and delivers value—across real-time infrastructure and analytical tools that shape decision-making.
If you’re looking to grow your skills in backend development or data systems while building for scale and impact, we’d love to hear from you!
About the Role
As a Junior Software Engineer on this team, you will be building and maintaining the pipelines and services that power engineering insights across Splunk. That means writing clean, production-grade code, working with real-time systems, and partnering with teams to deliver meaningful metrics and tools.
You’ll contribute to two core focus areas:
In Data Flow, you’ll develop infrastructure that routes and enriches millions of events across services. In Data Insights, you’ll help transform raw data into intuitive dashboards and analytics that support everything from system health to developer productivity.
You’ll gain experience with technologies like SQL, Airflow, and cloud services—all while learning standard methodologies from an encouraging, experienced team.
Who You Are
You’re someone who:
- Has written and debugged backend or data-focused code (through school, internships, or personal projects)
- Understands APIs, basic data structures, and how distributed systems communicate
- Enjoys solving problems and working collaboratively with others
- Is eager to learn and grow in a fast paced, real-world engineering environment
It’s a bonus if you’ve used dashboarding tools or worked with cloud platforms, but it’s absolutely not required—we’ll teach you!
What We Offer
We offer a thoughtful balance of support, autonomy, and real-world challenges. You’ll be part of a team that believes in doing phenomenal work without burning out—and we’re excited to help you grow!
Splunk provides:
- Comprehensive health and wellness benefits
- Competitive compensation and equity
- Flexible time off and remote-friendly culture
- Mentorship, learning budgets, and clear paths for growth
