Inviting applications for the role of Legal Counsel – Senior Manager – English!

We are looking for a talented Legal Counsel to join our Legal Compliance team. This role is based within the Legal Compliance team in Romania. You will be joining a professional, supportive, and collaborative team that highly values teamwork and mutual respect. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general legal matters (including, but not limited to regulatory compliance, litigation and disputes, employment related matters, contracting), and a proven track record of providing practical legal advice and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities:

• The employee will be the Romanian site Legal Counsel, responsible for the management of all legal matters related to Romania and, on a needed basis, will provide support to other Legal Compliance team members for general legal services throughout other jurisdictions Genpact group operates in (e.g. Europe, Middle East, and Africa etc.)
• Manage the relationship with external law firms where appropriate
• Perform all necessary activities from legal perspective (including, but not limited to drafting, reviewing, negotiating, managing registrations/submissions, developing/implementing policies, processes and/or procedure, delivering trainings, representing the company in various proceedings) related to the company’s activity, respectively related to the activity of the Genpact group (covering areas such as regulatory compliance, disputes & litigation, employment related matters, contracting, corporate matters)
• Analyze relevant legislation and advise on the impact on the company, as well as on the Genpact group
• Engage in legal and compliance risk assessment management and mitigation
• Provide support in integrity related investigations, as well as to the representatives of the company for compliance related matters
• Attend all meetings and calls, as instructed by the supervisor
• Oversee and/or provide support to other members of the team, on as needed basis
• Maintain the databases and the archives updated and perform reporting activities
• Perform certain administrative tasks (such as following the necessary procedures for invoices payment, submission of expenses reports, cost approvals, execution of documents, organizing meetings with public notaries and/or translators and others, as needed)
• The main internal stakeholders will be the Operations, Human Resources, Sourcing, Logistics and Controllership teams
• The position may require limited travelling to other Genpact offices, from time to time
• Train other team members regarding the daily tasks whenever necessary and requested by the manager
• Update the working procedures periodically
• Propose measures to improve and streamline the activity.

Qualifications we seek in you!

Minimum Qualification

• Relevant years of experience (in-house/authorities/ law firm) in the field of general legal compliance, disputes & litigation, employment related matters, contracting
• University graduate in Law (LLM) or equivalence
• Excellent written and spoken proficiency in English
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and written and oral communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and international environment
• High ethical standards and professional integrity

Preferred qualifications

• Experience of working in a multinational corporation or law firm
• Familiarity with managing general legal matters impacting companies on the Romanian market
• Ability to effectively manage multiple activities simultaneously in an efficient manner
• Organizing skills and capacity to manage projects in person or remotely (e.g., via e-mails, calls etc.)
