Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Senior Chemist to lead our analytical team in performing complex chemical analyses, method development, and validation. The successful candidate will have a strong background in microbiology, specifically in GMO testing using PCR, and experience with chromatography method development on HPLC and GC-MS using Waters software. Additionally, the candidate should be familiar with the use of ICP-OES from Analytik Jena for the analysis of heavy metals in grains, oilseeds, and oil.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform complex chemical analyses on food samples using various analytical techniques, including HPLC, GC-MS, and ICP-OES.
• Develop and validate new chromatography methods using Waters software for the analysis of food contaminants, residues, and other analytes.
• Conduct GMO testing using PCR and other molecular biology techniques.
• Analyze heavy metals in grains, oilseeds, and oil using ICP-OES from Analytik Jena.
• Lead and participate in method validation and verification studies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with laboratory staff to troubleshoot analytical issues and improve laboratory efficiency.
• Stay up-to-date with new technologies and methodologies in food analysis and implement them in the laboratory as necessary.
• Ensure compliance with laboratory quality management system and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance to junior staff members.

Requirements:

• Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a food testing laboratory or a related field.
• Strong background in microbiology, with specific experience in GMO testing using PCR.
• Experience with chromatography method development on HPLC and GC-MS using Waters software.
• Familiarity with ICP-OES from Analytik Jena for the analysis of heavy metals.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Proficiency in English; knowledge of other languages is an asset.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with laboratory quality management systems, such as ISO 17025.
• Familiarity with food safety regulations and standards.
• Experience with method validation and verification studies.

Technical Requirements:

• Proficiency in operating HPLC and GC-MS instruments from Waters.
• Experience with PCR and other molecular biology techniques for GMO testing.
• Familiarity with ICP-OES from Analytik Jena for the analysis of heavy metals.
