As a Senior Network Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and operation of Moderna’s global enterprise network. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in delivering secure, scalable, and highly available networking solutions.

You’ll work across security, infrastructure, and application domains to support critical business, manufacturing, and cloud environments. This position offers deep exposure to global operations and the opportunity to integrate Generative AI tools into network automation and operational efficiency strategies.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise-level network infrastructure, including routing, switching, wireless, firewalls, VPN, and security solutions.
  • Research and recommend advanced networking hardware and software (routers, switches, firewalls, etc.) and network management tools.
  • Lead network lifecycle management, from architecture upgrades to decommissioning outdated infrastructure.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and global security compliance across cloud, business-critical, and manufacturing environments.
  • Collaborate with security teams to enforce and monitor firewall policies, IPS/IDS, and secure VPN configurations.

Your responsibilities will also include:

  • Proactively monitor network performance and address bottlenecks or vulnerabilities before they escalate.
  • Define and validate network design/configuration changes based on industry best practices.
  • Interface with vendors, service providers, and cross-functional stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs.
  • Provide Tier 3 escalation support, lead root cause analyses (RCA), and maintain incident documentation.
  • Drive automation initiatives using tools like Python, Ansible, and Terraform, minimizing manual configuration.
  • Maintain comprehensive network documentation: architecture diagrams, operational runbooks, and standards.
  • Support site life-cycling: new office builds, expansions, relocations, and decommissions worldwide.
  • Participate in a global on-call rotation ensuring 24/7 support for critical systems.

  • You will be entrusted with leading Tier 3 support, incident resolution, and lifecycle strategy for global network infrastructure — a responsibility that demands initiative, accountability, and technical leadership across borders.

Here’s What You’ll Need (Basic Qualifications)

  • 8+ years of experience in network architecture, implementation, and administration within an enterprise environment.
  • Domain expertise in WAN, LAN, Wireless, DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM), VPN, OOB, Network Security – Firewalls, IPS, Secure Access, Network Access Control, Network Monitoring and Alerting, and Capacity Planning.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, Cisco SD-WAN, Meraki and Cisco WLC Wireless, Cisco ISE, Palo Alto Firewalls, Juniper SRX and Infoblox DDI solutions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a customer-first approach.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or healthcare environments is a plus. If no prior GxP experience, the candidate should be capable of quickly learning GxP compliance and implementing best practices in regulated environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with network automation and scripting (Python, Bash, Ansible) to streamline operations and enforce Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices.
  • Proven project management skills, with the ability to independently drive small to medium-sized networking initiatives.
  • A passion for emerging network technologies, staying ahead of industry trends, and recommending innovative solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to produce clear documentation and executive-level reports.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, PCNSE, or equivalent networking credentials are a plus.
  • Ability to foster strong relationships and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders, cross-functional teams, and external vendors.
