The role is a position in the Platform Operations (PO) team of the MMC Tech organization of Marsh McLennan Companies (MMC), being responsible for the Backup Reporting function, and all related projects and activities, reporting to the manager of the Backup Implementation Services (BIS) team.

The primary responsibilities of the role include management and ongoing development of the Global Backup Reporting (GBR) web application, maintenance and evolution of the front-end web components, and back-end application code and database upkeep.

The role will also require assistance with on-demand reporting and database queries, automation tasks, and administration of several upstream vendor reporting tools. Additionally, will be required to manage the workload and set priorities or assign tasks to another member of the team.

THE ROLE & YOUR MISSION

• Responsible for the Backup Reporting function across all regions, managing one colleague.
• Manages, maintains, and develops the Global Backup Reporting (GBR) web application.
• PHP/JS front end running on IIS
• Python application code
• MSSQL Database
• Manages and extends a suite of automation tools that assist with or directly contribute to the day-to-day operation of the data protection environment at MMC.
• Codebase written in Python and Perl
• Manages several vendor products that act as upstream data sources for GBR. Activities include troubleshooting and working with vendor support teams on bugs/issues/problems/upgrades.
• Veritas OpsCenter
• Veritas NetBackup IT Analytics (ITA)
• Uses APIs and ETL to extract data from vendor products to ingest data into the backup reporting database and to create automation scripts. 
• As GBR, ITA and OpsCenter product owner, participates in vulnerability tracking meetings and performs necessary upgrades to GBR app components (Python, PHP, IIS, etc.) when required to remediate detected CVEs, or implement new features.
• Creation of on-demand reports to assist with the management of the backup environment using SQL and Excel including, but not limited to, cost transparency reports, migration models, and legacy tape destruction reports.
• From a backup reporting perspective will lead or participate in complex projects such as migrations to (or additions of) new data sources, environment redesign, onboarding of reporting for new workloads, and development of new automation tools.
• Effectively uses industry-standard tools for code maintenance, status reporting and issue tracking in projects.
• Gains understanding of data subject matter (backup technologies, backup software and hardware) and business objectives to help with gathering requirements for development/reporting projects. 
• Writes documentation for new initiatives and extends documentation and comments of code for existing systems.

YOUR EXPERIENCE & VALUES

• Excellent communication both in English and Romanian
• 3+ years of experience with Development of SMB/Enterprise web applications
• 2+ years of experience working on data analytics, extraction and/or reporting using enterprise RDBMS systems (MSSQL, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
• 2+ years experience working with APIs. AWS and Azure APIs experience preferred.
• 2+ years as a lead or major contributor to complex Enterprise IT projects
• Advanced knowledge of MS Excel for report delivery and creation of models
• Experience working with GitHub and Azure DevOps
• Experience working with enterprise ITSM systems, like ServiceNow, for Incident, Change and Configuration management
• Comfortable with both Linux and Windows Server navigation and basic administration
• Basic understanding of enterprise storage and backup concepts
