We have a great opportunity for a dynamic customer focused Bilingual Employment Development Specialist to work part-time (up to 24 hours per week) in the Everett WorkSource office.
Through compassion and patience the WorkSource centers provide the customers with information about the full range of agency services and programs while directing them to the appropriate internal or external resources and support services. Our Employment Development Specialists are a critical piece of our mission of providing our services to job seekers and employers. Our ultimate goal is to help Washington workers and employers succeed in the global economy by delivering superior employment and training services.

Duties
As a Bilingual Employment Development Specialist you will identify customer’s needs, determine eligibility, and/or appropriateness for affiliated programs. Your phenomenal computer and communication skills will be relied upon as you explain program participation requirements and complete enrollments as appropriate. You will work with our customers to develop employment and training plans to help keep them on track toward their professional goals.
What your typical day may look like:
Provide in person and virtual employment services/resources to job seekers
Develop individual employment service plans and guide customers to effectively use employment and training programs and services
Record, maintain, enter, and update case notes and data in multiple data management systems
Read and interpret labor market information and develop individual employment plans
Facilitate job preparation activities, such as supporting customers in building resumes and materials for a standard job application, noting areas for needed skill development, conducting orientations to services, and facilitating workshops to support customers’ employability

This is an in-training opportunity and will be hired as a WorkSource Specialist 3.
You will be required to successfully complete the training plan in order to promote to the next level of the series until the goal class of WorkSource Specialist 4 is reached.
Salary ranges for these levels are:
WorkSource Specialist 3: $41,352 – $54,108 annually depending on qualifications.
WorkSource Specialist 4: $45,504 – $59,688 annually depending on qualifications.
Qualifications
Required:
A combination of education and/or relevant experience* totaling no less than six (6) years.
OR
One (1) year of experience as a WorkSource Specialist 2 within the Employment Security Department, or in an equivalent class with another state’s Employment Security agency.
- Such as: workforce development, social or human resource services, public relations, or customer service, retail, tech support or professional public contact work.
Education to Experience Equivalences:
Associate Degree = 2 years | Bachelor Degree = 4 years | Masters or Higher = 5 years
Additional Requirement of Employment:
Ability to communicate effectively in person, via telephone and in writing in English AND Korean, or Chinese, or Russian, or Spanish.
Ability to travel to provide services to our customers and community partners
Must be able to pass an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claim & Benefit Information Review.
NOTE: Per Governor Inslee’s Proclamation 21-14 (Download PDF reader) state employees must be fully vaccinated no later than October 18, 2021. This position is based in a WorkSource location and requires in-person attendance with no option for full-time telework. Please note that any offer of employment is contingent upon you providing verification of your vaccine status. No start date will be approved until you verify your status.
