Job Title: The ZoNE Lead Family Advocate
Reports to: Jene Ray, Associate Director
Coordinates: ZoNE Nutrition Projects, CHWs, & CMIS data base use
FLSA: Full time. Hourly Non-Exempt
Position Description:
Family Advocates support Northeast Spokane families in reaching their health, economic and education goals and provide an environment where adults and children can develop their fullest potential. This position provides one-on-one family goal setting and mentoring as a community health worker, with a focus on food delivery and nutrition education, as well as program management, data assessment, and partner coordination of shared deliverables.

Primary Responsibilities and Specific Duties:
- Responsible for establishing trusting relationships with Northeast Spokane families with children, engaging them in a variety of community programs including delivering healthy foods with partners, schools, and medical providers’ participation.
- Deliver food and nutrition education to qualified families on a weekly basis, completing all surveys and screening tools, organizing opportunities and registering families for cooking classes and other programs.
- Provide one-on-one mentoring and small group support with a focus on family strengths.
- Conduct intake interviews with families and enter data into the Community Management Information System
(CMIS) platform. Provide ongoing follow-up, basic motivational interviewing, and goal setting with families following all confidentiality requirements.
- Develop an ongoing plan that the family helps to construct and empower families by helping them navigate and access community resources and services.
- Oversee the ZoNE Family Nutrition Programs, including coordinating data collection & assessment, coordinating partners and programming, and coordinating CHW engagement with families.
- Manage CMIS data use for the ZoNE Collaboration
- Act as a team member with ZoNE and NECC staff, parents, partners, other community health workers, schools to provide integrated services to children and families.

Ability to actively listen and communicate/coordinate with both families and staff of different types of organizations. Ability to work independently and as part of a team of community health workers, coordinating support for families of different racial/ethnic/cultural backgrounds with partners across multiple organizations and schools.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation
- Computer skills with a variety of software programs and ability to adapt/learn new technologies
- Must pass a background check
- Must exhibit maturity and professionalism in personal behavior when officially representing the NECC/The ZoNE and even when off duty.
Required Education: HS Diploma/GED
Required Experience:
Minimum 1 year experience working in community organizing
Must demonstrate past experience of designing and implementing programs/projects
Must demonstrate past mentoring experience
Preferred Experience/Education:
Knowledge of community-specific culture and/or Northeast Spokane neighborhood resident. Multilingual in one of these languages: Spanish, Marshallese, Russian/Ukranian, Arabic. An associate of arts degree or bachelor’s degree in a social service-related field, such as social work, behavioral sciences, nutrition, psychology, child development, or mental health. Experience working with children and young families, knowledge of community resources, social services, and/or health education. Working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
Hours/Salary & Benefits: FT. $17-$18/hour depending on experience and education. Medical insurance, retirement & other benefits in accordance with NECC personnel policies upon successful completion of probationary period.
