This is a project pay position. Provides a wide variety of consulting services including conference, seminar or workshop design/presentation; operations review and analysis; project design, completion, coordination or management; or related consulting services.
Unit Position Summary
James Madison College is looking for a Consultant to help manage a large 15-person MSU student project team developing a digital archive on the collapse of the USSR. The position will include responsibilities of:
Completion of individual research and narrative text writing for the website using Russian language media
Providing research and writing support (both journalistic style prose and grant-writing)
Creation of metadata in Russian and English using Dublin Core standard.
Document scanning
Helping trouble-shoot problems with the development and maintenance of a web-based project (using the Omeka S platform), and
Responsibilities will also include work on developing educational and crowdsourcing tools, to be incorporated in the site.
Desired Qualifications
Fluency or near fluency in Russian
Minimum 2 years of college credits earned
Experience with Omeka S
Knowledge of Dublin core metadata standards (for Russian as well as English)
Experience working with Trello team sites
Background in Soviet or Russian studies
Good writing and editing skills
Experience using the entire Microsoft Office software suite
Experience using R and Python
