This part-time, 18 hours per week, classified position is part of the Business Office Team and reports directly to the Director of Accounting Services. The Cashier is primarily responsible for receiving funds in payment of tuition and other charges, recording monetary transactions, verifying daily records/receipts, preparing daily bank deposits, and adhering to college cash management processes. Applications received by June 27 2021 will receive priority consideration. This position will remain open until it is filled and is scheduled to begin upon selection.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include
Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically disadvantaged populations) and create an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Receive cash, checks, and/or credit cards in payment of tuition and other fees.
Assist with implementation of the Student Tuition Easy Payment Plan (STEPP).
Record all Renton Technical College (RTC) tuition and other revenue in the internal computerized financial management system (FMS) and balance each batch.
Process web registration credit card activity on a daily basis.
Distribute payroll, work study, financial aid, and other checks.
Maintain records of cash deposits and perform other filing as necessary.
Assist with daily deposits from various campus departments. Maintain and enforce security procedures, including service order tracking, to ensure safety of funds.
Assist with work overload during peak registration periods.
Provide excellent customer service, and use problem solving skills, to resolve issues and relay campus information.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated experience or participation with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socioeconomic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment.
High school graduate or equivalent and three years of general office experience including two years of cash handling experience. Advanced technical training in administrative procedures or accounting may substitute on a month for month basis for up to one year of the required experience.
Ability to learn about the courses and programs offered by RTC to facilities proper collection of tuition and fees.
Demonstrated ability to operate a 10-key calculator.
Ability to work effectively and engage with adult learners, including individuals whose first language is not English.
Proficient experience with Microsoft Office, specifically experience creating and editing documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Previous success learning new computer software programs / platforms.
Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Demonstrated attention to detail required as well as previous experience maintain accurate records, managing multiple tasks and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
Effective oral and written communication skills in the English language and ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion and courtesy.
Ability to speak a regionally top spoken language other than English is preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, and Chinese).
