The City of Gresham has an exciting opportunity to join the Small Business Center (SBC) as an Administrative Analyst within the Community Development Department. The Small Business Center serves new and existing local commercial businesses in Gresham and is a main point of contact for assistance with location siting, City permitting and license processes, incentives and community resources for technical assistance.
This position has the potential for a hybrid in office/remote schedule which will largely depend on the selected candidate’s skills and experience, as well as organizational needs. Any scheduling arrangements will be negotiated at time of hire.

What you will get to do:
In this role, you will oversee the existing day-to-day operations of the Small Business Center, acting as a liaison/project coordinator for the permitting and license processes between technical review staff (building, fire, development engineering, permit services, licensing, etc.) and local small businesses including: meeting with businesses to provide information on available locations for lease, resources, and regulatory requirements; working with technical staff to determine limitations and options for site or tenant improvements; assisting through City permitting processes (often translating technical information) while identifying barriers solutions and efficiencies through facilitation to ensure high quality customer service delivery.
In addition, developing and implementing expanded and new programming/services for new entrepreneurs and existing businesses will be central to this position. This may include developing and implementing marketing, branding and promotion strategies, conducting outreach and community engagement activities and building technical support partnerships. This work will also include on-the-ground relationship building, increasing presence within the businesses, community, and engagement in special City-lead district projects including: community building efforts, district development readiness, area business community identity development and partnership campaigns to involve and promote commercial economic development.
In support of this work, you will also track, analyze and report commercial business activity as well as provide assistance and recommendations to the Division Manager and Department Director for divisional policies and Council-led commercial economic development initiatives.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Public Administration or other position-related field AND
three (3) years progressively responsible professional experience in areas related to the position including:
program/project development
project coordination and management
public relations/promotion (marketing, branding, graphic design, outreach, etc.)
technical research
process and policy development
report writing
event logistics
contract management
Additional education or experience may substitute to reach equivalent 6 years of qualifying education, training, and/or experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Bi-lingual in Spanish or Russian
