Principal Responsibilities:
Recruits in office and in the field as needed, interviews at least forty (40) candidates per month for the Paraprofessional (HHA or PCA) training program and/or thirty (30) certified aides consistent with all regulatory and Selfhelp Policy and Procedure requirements. Develops relationships with recruitment referral sources.
Informs candidates of their pre-employment medical date. Assures that candidates attend and follow medical directives for completion of all training medical requirements. Checks personal references; verifies certificates.
Creates and maintains recruitment and HR hiring statistics that reflect the number of interviews conducted, dismissals, withdrawals, etc. and submits report to Recruitment Supervisor weekly. Enters training applicant’s personal and employment data into computer system. Prepare reports as requested.
Participates in Orientation, graduation of trainees and New Hire of Orientation for certified aides.
Assist the HR Department in pre-employment and onboarding activities for paraprofessionals including background checks, Social Security verifications, reference checks, scheduling physicals and ensuring completion of various employment forms of new hires.
Assist the Recruitment/HR department in maintaining a variety of Human Resources records and files, including employee and medical files. Create and/or manage the filing of personnel records
Assist Russian speaking new hires with all compliance requirements.
Complete correspondence related to employment verifications and employment letters.
Participates in departmental staff meetings and other organizational meetings as appropriate.
Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Selfhelp complies with all Federal, State and Local laws in regards to wages.
Knowledge, Skills And Requirements
Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two year college.
Six (6) months to one year related experience.
Bilingual English/Russian required.
Problem solving abilities while multi-tasking; ability to exercise sound judgment.
Strong analytical and computer skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service and organizational skills.
Knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures within HR.
Ability to work on own initiative.
