ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

CENTER FOR RUSSIAN, EAST EUROPEAN, AND EURASIAN STUDIES

The University of Pittsburgh’s University Center for International Studies (UCIS) in Pittsburgh PA, seeks an Associate Director (AD) for the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies (REEES).

The AD leads new area-related programming, major grants, and partnerships focused on the humanities, social sciences and professional fields such as law and public policy; collaborates with other UCIS units to develop cross-regional initiatives; oversees daily operations, staff, finances, and center publications; and is the primary liaison with stakeholders and partners.

Must also have experience with or knowledge of: (i) academic and professional trends in the REEES region as measured through a strong background in area-related research and fieldwork; (ii) international education administration demonstrated through progressive experience in the design and implementation of K-16 and community engagement programs; (iii) major grants; (iv) operations and budget management; and (v) partnerships and stakeholder relations.

Must also have native or near-native fluency (speaking, writing, and reading) in an East European or Eurasian language.

Must have a bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent degree) in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, History, or a related field plus two (2) years of experience in a related position.
