Position Profile :
To provide advocacy services to victims of sexual assault and/or child physical abuse while involved in the criminal justice system.
Hours : 40 hours per week – Full time; Monday through Friday
This position typically works a flex schedule. Generally, the position works hours between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Most of the appointments within the Criminal Justice System fall between these hours. There will be occasions where early evening appointments are scheduled. This occurs about 4-6 times per Month. There will also be occasions when there are weekend appointments or activities. These are limited to 2-4 times per year.

Reports to: Legal Advocacy Manager or Legal Advocate Supervisor
Essential Functions:
· Provide all of the following services in both English and one of the following languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, Mandarin, Korean or Ukrainian
· Provide support and information to victims of sexual assault who are involved in the Criminal Justice Process (to both Spanish and English-speaking clients)
· Assess the needs of the client and provide appropriate referrals and other collateral services
· Assist the client in making informed decisions about police reporting
· Provide on-going emotional support to clients
· Actively participate in the Dando Voz program as needed
· Inform the client of Crime Victims Compensation benefits
· Attend and provide support at interviews/hearings/trials/sentencing that the victim participates
· Actively monitor the status of the criminal case and keep clients informed of the status of their case
· Communicate effectively with Detectives, Prosecutors and Defense Attorneys and others in the legal system
· Establish an effective and supportive working relationship with a diverse population
· Work with independent initiative and assertiveness
· Provide information and support to victims and parents at Kid’s/Teen Court
· Assist clients with protective orders
· Give information about civil remedies
· Attend Agency meetings and events
· Duties as assigned by the Manager or Deputy Executive Director

Minimum Experience Desired
· 4 year college degree plus 1 year directly related work experience OR
· 2 years college/vocational training plus 3 years related work experience OR
· 6 years directly related work experience
· Bilingual fluency in English and one of the following languages: Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, Mandarin, Korean or Ukrainian
Experience Preferred
· Experienced in providing assistance to victims of sexual assault.
· Demonstrated knowledge of the criminal justice system.
