Job Description

Position: 2-year contract

Hours of work: 40 hours/week

10 working days of paid vacation

Job duties:
Primary time of work: mornings and days,

Read and interpret blueprints, drawings and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements,

Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools,

Measure, cut, shape, assemble and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel and other materials,

Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring and erect walls and roof systems,

Fit and install trim items, such as doors, stairs, moulding and hardware,

Maintain, repair and renovate wooden structures in commercial and residential buildings,

Supervise apprentices and other construction workers (3-4 workers),

Schedule and co-ordinate work on sites,

Travel between various building sites,

May prepare cost estimates for clients.

Education:

• Completion of vocational/trade program in carpentry is an asset.

Requirements:
Must have prior experience in residential/industrial carpentry 4+ years,

Must have operational knowledge of English,

Must be capable of lifting 25lb+, crouching and bending,

Criminal record check will be required,

References from previous employers will be required,

Knowledge of Russian or Ukrainian languages could be an asset but not required.
