UCF Utilities & Energy Services is seeking well qualified candidates to apply for the role of Chiller Technician I. This position works directly for the Centrifugal Chiller Technician III to perform daily plant, repairs, start-up and orderly shut-down or staging on various brands of UCF’s district water-cooled chillers as well as commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. Duties include but are not limited to:
Identifies issues requiring corrective repairs, including troubleshooting, diagnostics and scope of work development, to include determining bill of materials of components or equipment requiring replacement, refurbishment or repairs.
Assist in escorting contracted services through the plants as assigned by supervisor / management.
Performs entry level system maintenance and repairs to plant building, chillers, pumps, cooling towers, actuators, underground distribution pipe, valves, and vaults.
Perform work tasks, report deficiencies, and maintain and completes daily records of labor and materials used during work tasks via the CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
Under direct supervision, make small adjustments as necessary to ensure equipment controls are in a safe, reliable, efficient and cost optimal operation.
Maintains a clean, organized and tidy work environment.
Enters pertinent plant system status in logbooks and CMMS. Review former log book entries in a concise manner to maintain plant equipment uptime. Provides input and details requisitioning of parts and supplies as necessary to maintain plant equipment and systems
Adheres to Lock Out/Tag Out in accordance with NFPA70E / university policy.
Works with other campus technician / technical disciplines and F&S management as assigned to proactively assess and rectify multi-disciplinary system issues.
Under direct supervision, takes appropriate action in emergency conditions, or during tripped asset events due to faults. Continually and urgently communicates with supervisor regarding any apparent operational deficiencies or system malfunctions discovered during daily operations.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work herein.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of and experience with industry-standard computer applications and mobile smart device applications.
Ability to read and interpret schematics, one-line diagrams, and blueprints.
High level of electrical, mechanical and plumbing skills.
Ability to use electrical test instruments such as a digital multimeter.
Ability to demonstrate competency in metal fabrication (welding, cutting, grinding, polishing) for steel, stainless steel, and aluminum, and heavy power tools (jackhammer, hydraulic press, bandsaw, cutting wheel, grinding wheel).
Demonstrated competency in rustproofing and epoxy coating metallic surfaces.
