Community Health Action of Staten Island (CHASI) drives dramatic improvements in the health of New Yorkers by feeding people who are hungry, healing families broken apart by violence, and bridging the gaps between people and the compassionate health care they deserve. CHASI provides outreach, education, prevention, and direct support services for populations most affected by health disparities – the poor and working poor, low income people with chronic illnesses, persons with criminal justice involvement, substance users, domestic violence survivors, people of color, and the LGBTQ community.
Position Summary:
The Community Ambassador: Engagement & Data Lead for the Test and Trace (T2) & Barbershop initiatives will be a strong multi-tasker with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to track engagement activities of the T2 and Barbershop teams. The Test and Trace (T2) initiative will execute activities designed to promote COVID-19 testing and vaccination and compliance with efforts to trace impacted individuals, a duty critical to limiting the impact of COVID-19 in communities throughout Staten Island. The Barbershop initiative provides hypertension screening and support activities that include in-person outreach efforts to engage persons within community barbershops with free hypertension screening; provide education to community members about behavioral practices and medical interventions that can support healthy blood pressure and cardiovascular health; and provide service planning, intervention, and support with persons needing assistance in addressing hypertension and navigating the healthcare system.
The Community Ambassador: Engagement & Data Lead will supervise the Administrative Coordinator while working closely with the T2 Project Director and Barbershop Hypertension Community Ambassador to coordinate the administrative and client engagement activity of the T2 and Barbershop initiatives. Role will ensure that important office management responsibilities such as ordering supplies and equipment; managing and analyzing data, drafting email blasts, completing comprehensive data reports for daily/weekly/monthly reporting are completed. The Community Ambassador: Engagement & Data Lead will oversee tasks that include providing support to clients engaged telephonically and virtually through CHASI’s T2 initiative. The Community Ambassador: Engagement & Data Lead will ensure that client engagement assignments are performed and documented accurately and will conduct follow-up to ensure that crucial service needs are addressed. The Community Ambassador: Engagement & Data Lead will also work collaboratively with the Test & Trace Assistant Director and Associate Vice President to analyze staff productivity and the impact that current workflows have on the programs’ ability to meet desired programmatic goals.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Provide direct supervision of the T2 Administrative Coordinator
Build and nurture relations with T2 community stakeholders; Identify new community partners and groups where T2 objectives can be promoted
Develop client engagement assignments for T2 Engagement Specialists to perform on their administrative workdays
Track utilization of the program’s COVID hotline
Ensure all inquiries made through social media platforms and e-mail are addressed
Report on response to social media posts and calls to our 24-hour phone bank
Develop and manage a database of COVID-related resources with contact information for all CHASI staff to access when working with clients to address COVID risk factors and treatment needs
Oversee project management software for team collaboration
Support management in follow-up and completion of deadlines
Create weekly data reports of T2 and Barbershop program activities
Assist in drafting standard operating procedures for the department
Maintain a supportive and positive, communicative, and culturally competent work environment, keeping the staff motivated
Maintain direct, frequent, and effective communication with Associate Vice President (AVP) of T2 & TPO
Coordinate meetings and provide real-time scheduling support for AVP related to T2 and Barbershop initiatives
Provide needed testing referral and resource information as well as linkage to CHASI and Sun River Health services as indicated
Complete accurate documentation of all community engagement efforts
Attend contractual and agency training to maintain information updates on relevant issues
Align all activities with CHASI’s mission, core values, and culture

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant experience or H.S. Diploma or equivalent with 4 years of relevant experience required
1 year of experience supervising staff required
Bilingual English/Spanish; English/Russian; English/Urdu strongly preferred
Flexibility to work during the weekend required
Experience with collecting data related to contract deliverables and services provided, and creating reports based on that data
Familiarity with and connection to communities in Staten Island required, particularly in Mid-Island and South Shore
Strong commitment to serving marginalized populations, understanding of stigma, and ability to work with individuals with diverse backgrounds, abilities, experiences, and talents
