Tracing Health was launched in response to the public health emergency pandemic of COVID-19. Our services include contact tracing and scientific support to counties and local health departments. Our highly-trained employees counsel contacts and connect them to community resources for the successful implementation of quarantine.
Position Summary
The Public Health Institute is hiring numerous Contact Tracers to support the Spokane Regional Health District to perform COVID-19 contact tracing.
The Contact Tracer will work with patients to help them recall everyone with whom they have had close contact during the timeframe while they may have been infectious, then contact the individuals to let them know of their potential exposure. Contact Tracers will be provided scripts to follow and must comply with policies and procedures provided by PHI, and comply with Human Subjects training regarding confidential information related to personal information.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Participate in PHI training to learn procedures for contact tracing and scripts to follow.
Follow scripts when communicating with patients and contacts. Contact Tracers are not permitted to deviate from the script or provide information that is not included in the script.
Call patients who have been newly diagnosed with COVID-19 to provide support and gather information.
Help patients recall everyone with whom they have had close contact during the timeframe while they may have been infectious.
Call the contacts to discuss their potential exposure.
Communicate with contacts in a professional and empathetic manner.
Collect and record information on symptoms into a Client Resource Management platform CRM.
Provide contacts with information about how to separate themselves from others who are not exposed, how to monitor themselves for illness, and if appropriate, refer them to testing according to procedures or to a Resource Coordinator for additional resources.
Call each person under active monitoring daily for 14 days to check that there is no onset of symptoms.
Maintain contact with the supervisor.
Conduct other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress.
Ability to communicate verbally in a professional and empathetic manner.
Excellent organizational skills.
Good critical thinking skills.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Proficiency with computer software and ability to learn how to use a CRM.
Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
Desired Qualifications
Second or multiple languages a plus (specifically Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, or Marshallese). Please indicate the languages spoken on your application or cover letter.
Familiarity with Spokane or Washington State a plus.
Important Information
This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position.
This is a remote, time-limited position that is expected to last until approximately May 31, 2021 with the possibility of being extended.
There are multiple positions available to start immediately with various shifts (daytime, evenings, and weekends).
The pay rate for this position is $22.79 per hour. The pay rate for applicants who are bilingual is $23.92 per hour.
