The Beaverton Municipal Court is seeking a Court Support Specialist 2 that may be the position for you!
The Beaverton Municipal Court handles a high volume of traffic crimes and other misdemeanors, traffic violations and other violations, and parking citations. The successful candidate will perform a variety of responsible administrative support activities. The Court operates in a paper-on-demand environment with extensive use of personal computers and scanning equipment. This position will have daily contact with the public and incarcerated individuals in person, by phone or virtually.

The expected schedule for this position during the initial six-month training and probationary period will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thereafter, alternative scheduling may be available, dependent upon operational needs.
This is a non-exempt, SEIU-classified position. This position requires in-person support with limited options for remote work. There is one vacancy.
Temporary Assignments Available:
The Beaverton Municipal Court is seeking to fill two temporary court support assignments immediately. Candidates interested in a temporary assignment should indicate their interest in the supplemental questions.

Responsibilities
Assist defendants in resolving violation cases by phone, email or virtually.
Administratively dismiss violation cases that meet the requirements of a certificate of innocence or certificate of liability.
Process violation cases for failure to appear, to include generating and mailing templated documents.
Process a variety of cases for failure to pay or comply, to include generating and mailing templated documents.
Review violation conviction abstracts for errors prior to reporting convictions to the Department of Motor Vehicles.
Receive incoming correspondence from a variety of sources to include mail, drop box, email and fax and take appropriate action according to established policies and procedures.
Respond to correspondence using a variety of templates and methods of communication to include mail, drop box, email and fax.
Receive a variety of payment types and take appropriate action according to policy and procedure.
Courier internal and external mail and materials to departments in other buildings.
Operate the court room recording equipment and application and notate proceedings within the application to meet the standards of a court or record as established by Oregon state law.
Process a variety of documents by adding to a case and taking appropriate action according to established policies and procedures.
Check defendants into court prior to court appearances.
Process cases within a work queue according to established procedures, as assigned.

Performs duties outlined in the Court Support Specialist 2 classification and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED

Two years working with the public in a high-volume setting, including cash handling
One year working in a criminal justice environment
Or an equivalent combination of education and experience enabling the incumbent to perform the essential functions of the position.
Ability to pass a pre-employment skills test.
Ability to obtain Law Enforcement Data System (LEDS) certification within 30 days of hire.
Ability to obtain and maintain Criminal Justice System Information Services (CJIS) security certification. Pre-employment fingerprints need to be completed and cleared prior to start date. CJIS certification testing occurs within 30 days of hire.
Ability to pass reference checks, a drug screen and satisfy the requirements of a background check.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual in English and one of the City of Beaverton’s priority languages (Spanish, Arabic, Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese, Russian, or Japanese).

Compensation
Wage Range: $21.17 – $28.36 hourly
Starting wage will be determined depending on relevant work experience as outlined in the Equal Pay Act. New hires who meet minimum requirements will start at step one. Higher steps within the posted salary range may be offered to those who have additional years of directly related experience to the position.
