Curriculum Developer
(French, Chinese, Russian, Spanish)

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work on-line, be flexible and show strong time management skills
Participate actively in team meetings and individual interactions, to report progress and effectively collaborate with other team members
Provide valuable input to the curriculum development process
Use scaffolding techniques to develop lesson activities
Follow the lesson development building guidelines
Adapt authentic materials or repurpose traditional language materials using the Interagency Language Roundtable Language Skill Level Descriptions to tailor curricula to meet student needs.
Be creative and adaptable to improve the quality of the lesson materials
Undergo intensive training on project-specific curriculum development
Be prepared to research and develop products demonstrating cultural learning, and present products to large groups in a briefing environment.
Edit and revise lesson materials
Maintain expertise in using methods and materials that facilitate proficiency-based language instruction.
Meet with leads and managers to discuss problems and advances in the project
REQUIREMENTS:
Desirable educational background Bachelors or higher degree in linguistics, language teaching, education, curriculum development or related fields
Demonstrate familiarity with the ILR levels for all modalities.
Have knowledge of the Defense Language Proficiency Test (DLPT) and know how to tailor materials to students’ specific levels.
Have knowledge of the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) and be prepared to develop materials for instructors and students regarding that test.
Possess experience in lesson planning, preparation of classroom quizzes, writing POIs and/or lesson plans geared to various skill levels, and development of appropriate homework activities to augment classroom instruction.
Be familiar with current strategies and theories that address myriad adult learner individual differences (age, sex/gender, education level, experience level, motivation, rank, socioeconomic status, personal history, etc.).
Possess previous curriculum development experience
Knowledge of Cross Cultural Communication, Hofstede’s Cultural Domains, and relevant applications of cultural knowledge to language learning and military operations.
Be a certified educated native or near-native fluency or general professional proficiency (a language rating of level 4 or higher) in a language other than English.
Possess experience in word processing using foreign fonts, and familiarity with working in a Windows (MS Office) environment and use of the Office Suite.
Demonstrated ability to use Canvas Learning Management System, Moodle Learning Management System, and lesson development platforms such as Articulate Storyline, Adobe Audition, Camtasia, etc.
US work permit is required
Native-like proficiency required in one of the following languages: French, Chinese (Mandarin) Russian, (Spanish)
NOTES: Additional Salary Information: Starting at $30 per hour
