Job Description:
Director, Student Care Services, will oversee the day-to-day management of Student Care Services by streamlining the three branches of services offered by SCS including OSRR administrative actions regarding students of concern, non-clinical case management services, and UCF Cares education and outreach related to student safety and wellbeing.
The Director will be charged with coordinating the needs of students experiencing distress in areas such as academics, mental or emotional health, psychological, economic, discipline, family relationships and social adjustments through a variety of interventions, referrals and follow up service. The Director is accountable for the coordination of the UCF Cares initiative, student-facing Let’s Be Clear campaign, the Student of Concern Team, University Crisis Team, and facilitates the administration of any recommendations from committee or university leadership.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
The Director, SCS is focused on the education and retention of students primarily by providing support and advocacy services for students, and consultation to faculty, staff, and parents/families.
Focus on crisis/mental health concerns and assisting students in crisis or distress to prioritize issues and UCF and community resources to bear in order to maximize student success.
Responsibilities include daily oversight of Student Care Services operations including supervision of full-time Student Care Coordinators, Office Support Assistant, Case Management specialists, student assistants/work study students, and staff extensions including overseeing graduate assistantships and internships made available through SDES.
Oversee the triage of student of concern cases, daily case management operations, and collaboration and consultation with academic deans, faculty, health care providers, parents, community partners and campus colleagues.
Oversee daily student of concern assignments, class absence notification requests, well-being checks, and care call procedures.
Chair the Student of Concern Team, which meets weekly to review reports of Students of Concern and make recommendations to the Assistant Dean of Students regarding resources and referrals.
Co-Chair the University Crisis Team and maintain all records and correspondence of Crisis Team recommendations.
Oversee student death response procedures related to currently enrolled student deaths, communication with departments and families, and functional support of the Eternal Knights memorial service and website to provide consistent support for families and members of the UCF community impacted by a student death.
Oversee Title IX remedial measures and coordinate case management with Office of Institutional Equity.
Oversee Student Emergency Intervention services including Homeless Student Committee review and Emergency Fund disbursement procedures.
Oversee day-to-day expenditures for Student Care Services budget.
Lead Student Care Services annual outreach plan including marketing and educational materials, website content, presentations and trainings, and other forms of messaging.
Oversee the UCF Cares Initiative including website management, marketing, outreach, and collaborative efforts.
Oversee student-facing Let’s Be Clear campaign including website management, marketing, outreach, and collaborative efforts.
Oversee collecting, evaluating, and recording all facts pertaining to reports of student of concern including formulating intervention plans to minimize and/or resolve problems with students of concern.
Maintain an electronic database (records management system) and paperless system.
Research best practices for Case Management in relation to OSRR policies and practices.
Oversee a directory of community resources available to students and university employees and create partnerships with external community agencies for students to use.
Interpret University policy regarding students and making recommendations when policy changes are needed.
Prepare annual reports, monthly reports, and weekly reports with accurate statistical information.
Oversee Student Care Services annual assessment plan and Institutional Effectiveness plan.
Providing periodic consultation with UCF Health Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, and Housing and Residence Life and other university constituents on an as needed basis.
Provide support and guidance to university troubleshooters in matters pertaining to case management maintenance and access to records, when appropriate, as well as serving as a resource for safety and security issues that arise.
Update and assist with the Golden Rule Student Handbook review and develop effective policies for a campus wide response affecting Student Rights and Responsibilities.
Serve as a liaison for the Assistant Dean of Students, interacting with all levels of administration, students, and staff regarding Mandated Assessments.
Performs other duties as required or deemed appropriate by the Dean of Students or Assistant Dean of Students.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s and 8+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 6+ years of relevant experience with at least 3+ year(s) of leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Three or more years of progressively responsible, full-time experience in student case management/dean of students area administration.
Demonstrated ability to lead in a dynamic community with a diverse student body.
Working knowledge of current regulations, law pertaining to FERPA, HIPAA, Clery Act, Title IX and other applicable regulatory provisions.
Progressive experience coordinating the needs of students experiencing distress in areas such as academics, mental or emotional health, psychological, economic, discipline, family relationships and social adjustments through a variety of interventions, referrals and follow up service.
Strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate with technology.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships, partnerships, and solve problems.
Experience with developing and/or implementing training.
Experience with databases (Maxient preferred)
Experience working with college students in a campus setting and experience in a crisis management role providing support and advocacy for college students.
Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in public speaking, outreach, and programming are preferred.
Computer database skills are highly desired.
A degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, Educational Administration, Social Work or a similar area and student case management experience.
