Navanti has a requirement for an Eastern Europe-focused researcher to work with our multidisciplinary team who can use their knowledge of politics, government, and social issues within the region. Candidates should have knowledge and/or experience in Eastern Europe or the former Soviet Union more broadly sufficient to gather and analyze data pertinent to the media environment, demographics, and security affairs. The candidate will be responsible for collecting information from open sources, including regional and other non-English news outlets, social media, blogs, academic literature, local contacts, and other sources.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Open-source analysis skills
Strong writing and editing abilities
Literacy in the Eastern European media landscape
Familiarity with the politics, culture, and history of at least one Eastern European country
Proficiency in a regional language
Desired Experience:
Background in Russian, Baltic, or Ukrainian studies
Understanding of the conflict in eastern Ukraine
Experience living in, studying, or working on topics related to Eastern Europe or the wider former Soviet Union
Data management and analysis
Education + Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree minimum; Master’s Degree in regional studies or related field preferred
Language:
Working proficiency in a regionally relevant language required, strong command of Russian or Ukrainian highly desirable
Security Clearance:
None required; ability to obtain minimum of SECRET clearance desired
