Denver Human Services is seeking a highly compassionate, committed, well trusted in the Denver community, and knowledgeable individual to serve in the role of Immigrant and Refugee Program Coordinator within our Community Outreach and Resource Engagement (CORE) division.
This unique role, which was recently created, will oversee the following programs at Denver Human Services for Immigrant and Refugee communities; Direct Services, Partnership Services, Policy, Community Connections, and Advocacy.
These programs are tailored specifically to the needs of Immigrant and Refugee communities and are in the early stages of development. This initiative aligns directly with the vision of our Executive Leadership Team in ensuring that all members of our community are well connected, supported, and safe. We strive to create a welcoming, and friendly environment for our clients. More specifically, we recognize the tremendous economic, social, and cultural value when immigrant and refugees integrate successfully into our city.
The role of the Immigrant and Refugee Coordinator will include:
Work closely with SIV (Special Immigrant Visa) holders in Denver to develop services such as mental health, housing resources, job navigation etc. for SIV Veterans seeking assistance.
Foster partnerships with nonprofits, community based organizations, residents and government agencies to provide informational sessions, workshops, community listening sessions, and learning campaigns for Immigrants and Refugee communities in Denver. (Citizenship Classes, ESL Classes, Career Development Opportunities, etc)
Serve as a DHS representative in various committees and workgroups
Serve as a Liaison citywide for issues that will impact the Immigrant and Refugee Communities, i.e. 2020 Complete Census Count Committee, Public Charge, Denver Immigrant Legal Service Fund, Colorado Resilience Collaborative, and many more.
Work closely with Office of Immigrant and Refugee Affairs Language Access Coordinator to implement agency and citywide efforts that expand language access equity for limited English speaking residents.
Participate and help lead and plan community events, forums, etc
Must be willing to work some weekends and evenings for community events
About You
Our ideal candidate:
A Bilingual candidate is required in any of the following languages in addition to English. i.e Spanish, Vietnamese, Arabic, Amharic, Russian
Experience coordinating successful community events in Denver with Immigrant and Refugee populations.
Knowledge of current local, state, and federal policies that impact Immigrant and Refugee communities.
Proven longstanding and trusted relationships with residents, organizations, and government agencies serving Immigrant and Refugees in Denver.
Has served in Human Service or related field for 5+ years and is familiar with Employment First, TANF, SNAP, Medicaid and other governmental programs.
Understands and interprets data that will drive the creation of programs for hard to reach populations.
Ability to communicate and connect with established community leaders serving Immigrant and Refugee communities in Denver.

Experience Requirement Five (5) years of technical or administrative experience performing standard research and evaluation, case management, and/or implementing work processes
