Position

Position: Software Engineering Manager, NetIM

Location: Cluj (Hybrid)

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineering Manager to join our team. In this role, you will lead a high-performing team of Engineers to design and implement new and existing features for our industry-leading network infrastructure management product, NetIM.

Riverbed® NetIM (Network Infrastructure Management) is an integrated solution for mapping, monitoring, and troubleshooting your IT infrastructure. With NetIM, you can capture infrastructure topology information, detect performance issues, map application network paths, diagram your network, and troubleshoot infrastructure problems. Additionally, you can manage infrastructure issues within the context of application, network, and end-user experience for a blended view of overall performance.

What you will do

  • Lead and develop a high performing team of engineers and technologists
  • Plan, organize and estimate deliverables together with your team
  • Track key performance metrics for delivery
  • Set goals for the team and team members using the OKRs framework
  • Facilitate, and when necessary, resolve technical and interpersonal discussions
  • Continually improve the overall output quality of the team, through thoughtful code reviews
  • Mentor team members and collaborate with them on personal and career growth
  • Help set and uphold a trusting environment, with regular 1:1’s focused on feedback and recognition
  • Hiring, interviewing, on-boarding new members of the team
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, design, and business counterparts to build innovative solutions

What makes you an ideal candidate

  • BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
  • 4+ years’ experience in managing software development teams
  • 6+ years’ experience of hands-on software development, with at least 3 years’ experience with Java
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Able to understand, implement and improve processes
  • Experience with multiple methodologies like waterfall, SCRUM, Kanban
  • You’ve built large and complex projects at scale, and maintained them over many release cycles
  • Hands-on experience using GenAI-powered developer tools like Cursor and Copilot as part of day-to-day software development.
  • Able to build long term, but also able to find efficient short-term solutions
  • Experience working with distributed teams in different time zones
  • A product focused mindset and a get-things-done attitude
  • A people-oriented management style

Nice to have

  • Experience with system-wide performance optimizations
  • Knowledge of networking stack under Linux
  • Hands-on development under Linux using containerized processes
