Partner Manager is a key role in the operation of Global Payments s. r. o, (GP) in sales through external sales channels. Being a business-oriented company, our primary goal is to meet our business goals and maintain the quality of service we provide to customers on the market. The contribution of external sales channels already represents a significant share of GP revenue and has great potential for a significant increase in the future, in all of our local markets where we are currently operating as Global Payments or in the future.

The main role is to ensure the achievement of the business plan in the external sales channel segment in Romania in cooperation with other Global Payments departments. This role involves seeking and negotiating cooperation with potential external partners and taking care of existing partner, while adhering to the external sales strategy and helping set up end-to-end processes for working with GP external partners and other GP departements. It also ensures regular reporting, cost management, and full compliance with internal guidelines, applicable legislation, and the company code.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, qualify, and negotiate cooperation with potential external partners. Prepare business cases, commercial terms, conduct business negotiations and secure required approvals.
  • Own the complete boarding/onboarding process: contract execution, enablement plan, technical and operational setup, go‑live checklist
  • Be the primary relationship owner for current and new partners. Run regular reviews and QBRs, track pipeline and performance (activation, volume, churn, service quality), resolve issues/escalations, and deliver the agreed business plan and portfolio profitability.
  • Work closely with Sales channels and other internal channels to align go‑to‑market, avoid channel conflict, define lead routing & deal registration, co‑sell where useful, and ensure a consistent merchant experience.
  • Coordinate with Product, Legal, Risk/Compliance, Operations/Support, and Marketing to implement the partner strategy, enablement materials, and joint campaigns. Contribute to standard operating procedures for partner management.
  • Apply efficiency principles to keep spending within budget; ensure portfolio P&L targets are met.
  • Report activities and performance regularly; adhere to internal policies, regulations, and the company code
  • Responsibility for achieving results and fulfilling business plans
  • Actively brings suggestions to innovate and improve GP processes and services
  • By executing these responsibilities, the Partner Manager helps GP meet business goals, safeguard service quality, and scale revenue through a high‑performing partner‑led external sales channel aligned with the company strategy.

Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years in partnerships / channel sales / business development
  • Self-motivated “entrepreneur” with a strong focus on results
  • Strong feeling for client’s needs, actively stimulates the improvement of services provided
  • Works as a business owner – understands business, customer / partner needs and financial impact and makes prudent decisions and suggests improvements
  • Client orientation (internal and external) with excellent client service. Ability to communicate with various customers, suppliers and business partners on a professional level
  • A high level of business and operational vigilance and business awareness, along with deep knowledge of card business: individual processes, services, technologies, regulations, trends, etc.
  • Team player focused on achieving individual goals
  • Excellent sales and negotiation skills both internally and externally
  • Ability to come up with customized solutions to problems and situations under GP rules
  • High level of verbal and written communication and presentation – including public appearances Romanian + English (advanced)
  • Good time management and planning, flexibility and willingness to travel
  • Creates positive relationships – supports constructive working relationships with others inside and outside the company
