Job Description

HII Mission Technologies is seeking a Russia Policy SME to come join our team in the Washington, DC area. The Russia Policy SME Researches and analyzes near-peer national security and defense policies in support of a Department of Defense organization that works with structures throughout the U.S. Government and with public and private think tanks around the world to develop a common understanding of Russian decision-making and way of war.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Apply expertise of the Russia problem set to analyze, synthesize, and produce written research products commissioned by the client organization. Research topics that are of interest to the customer and presents findings in concise, articulate formats, as directed by the client. Support current operations by completing short notice taskings, responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), and participating in Operational Planning Teams (OPTs). Author original products informed by independent research at the direction of the government. Monitor elements of national power and foreign policy decision making to inform the evaluation on the effectiveness of existing government policy programs and initiatives. 

  • Telework / hybrid schedule authorized (must be local or within reasonable driving distance for weekly/periodic SCIF work)

Minimum Qualifications

9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in International Relations, Foreign Affairs, or National Security Policy
  • 5+ years of experience applying near-peer military culture and policy to real-world events for government, academia, or research-oriented organizations
  • 5+ years of experience focused on Russia related issues and challenges
  • Ability to fluently read, write, and speak Russian
  • Ability to provide written analysis at the General Officer or Flag Officer (GO/FO) level with expectation of multiple redirects – must maintain adaptability.
  • Knowledge of instruments of national power, including diplomatic, informational, military, and economic (DIME) and military, informational, diplomatic, financial, intelligence, economic, law, and development (MIDFIELD) concepts
  • WRITING Sample required if selected for interview
  • Ability to travel across Europe (current/active US Passport)
  • TS/SCI clearance

Preferred Requirements

  • Experience living or working in Russia
  • Experience as a client facing professional performing onsite delivery
  • Knowledge of project management best practices, inputs, tools and techniques, and outputs
  • Master’s degree in International Relations, Foreign Affairs, National Security Policy or related field

Physical Requirements

May require working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances.
