We are looking for Journalists to produce engaging and insightful content in a variety of formats, based on the monitoring of vernacular sources in Ukraine and other European countries.
You will use various tools and techniques to track news from and about European media, identify key developments and trends and write reports for the BBC Monitoring website and other BBC platforms.
You will be a skilled editor, able to sub contributions from freelancers quickly and accurately.
You will also come up with original ideas and creative treatments for ongoing and emerging narratives, including data-driven products and multimedia elements.
You will actively seek feedback from BBCM’s users and work with the Editorial Lead and the rest of the team to interpret this and respond in a timely manner.
Are you the right candidate?
You will have a thorough understanding of the Ukrainian political and media environment, a good grasp of international news, with particular focus on Europe and the Baltic states, and recent experience as a journalist.
Excellent written English, fluency in Russian and Ukrainian and the ability to translate quickly and accurately are also a must.
You will demonstrate sound editorial judgement based upon a clear understanding of the BBC’s editorial values and a knowledge of BBC Monitoring’s customer interests.
Willingness and enthusiasm to embrace new ways of working and new technology are essential, as are good team-working skills.
Knowledge of another European language, some broadcast experience, video editing and multimedia production skills are desirable.
