As a Policy Analyst supporting the Russia Strategic Initiative of the US European Command (EUCOM), on behalf of Alion, you will use your specialized educational and functional experience and attention to detail to develop research papers, reports, analytic assessments and informational briefings. This position will help provide national security and defense policy analysis of Russian strategic decision making for EUCOM while monitoring elements of national power and foreign policy activity. If you have a strong analytical skillset and problem-solving mind, this opportunity is for you.
This Policy Analyst will conduct original research using both qualitative and quantitative methods, such as case studies, survey research, and statistical analysis. You will prepare policy reports, briefs of research, and present findings. You may evaluate the effectiveness of existing government policies and programs and formulate recommendations regarding strategies to achieve identified mission.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree or higher is desired with a major/emphasis on International Affairs/ Relations, Foreign Policy, Diplomacy, Political Science, Eastern European Studies, or Russian Studies.
Strong writing and analytical skills required
Responsible for developing, drafting, writing, and editing reports, proposal input, and other documents in support of a customer’s requirements
Experience in conducting original research using primary sources and preparing publication ready papers or reports (Peer-reviewed preferred)
Strong knowledge of and experience in Russian political-military issues such as strategic decision-making, arms control, military structures, command and control, Russia/China relations, and cyber security
Awareness of the current Russian policy research environment
Excellent communications, presentation, organizational and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail are a must.
Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned
Knowledge of government contracting environment, management/business plans and program reporting is a plus.
Must be motivated and a self-starter.
Russian language skill is preferred
Strong computer skills, MS Office Suite
US Citizenship and must be eligible for a DOD security clearance after hire.
