Job Description:
The Library Technical Assistant I position is In charge of the operation of the circulation desk on Sundays and in the evenings Monday through Thursday. Additional job duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Responsible for circulation of library materials. Responsible for the interpretation and implementation of library circulation policies and procedures, provision of general patrons to resolve problems.
Jointly responsible for the training and supervision of student assistants.
Committed to customer relationship development.
Inputs patron data into automated circulation system, operates the Automated Retrieval Center, and handles financial transactions.
Follows established guidelines for opening and closing building.
Jointly responsible for building and patron safety and security in the evenings. Works closely with campus security personnel in reporting and resolving immediate problems. Works closely with UCF IT to resolve problems arising during evenings and weekends.
Responsible for hold shelf and holds requests. Places holds and recalls and notifies patrons of status of holds.
Performs other duties as assigned. Works other hours/days as assigned.

Sunday – Thursday; 4:45 PM-1:15 AM with flexibility. Schedule varies during summers, finals, intercessions, or other special events.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent and 0+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of basic library procedures.
Ability to supervise, train, and manage employees. Knowledge of safety and security (personnel and facilities) procedures.
Computer system knowledge.
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
Good interpersonal skills including ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to work effectively under pressure.
Typing/Computer skills for entering/retrieving information from automated databases.
Ability to organize and maintain files and records.
Basic arithmetic skills, ability to use cash register, and operate Automated Retrieval Center.
Hearing, sight, speech, stooping, bending, standing, lifting (to a maximum 30 lbs., hand/finger dexterity.
The ability to follow written and/or oral directions.

This position qualifies for shift differential equal to 5% of the pay range.
