Collaborate with Marketing and Public Relations to steer the weekly editorial scrum and identify key team and player narratives.
Research and submit story ideas at the beginning of every week
Attend all practices and home games serving as an in-house member of the press
Attend select road trips and Hartford Wolfpack games as determined by manager
Create 3-5 pieces of content per week across different formats and channels:
Feature articles on the website that detail team and/or player development
Player profiles that live on the website
Prospect features and profiles for our “Future Blue” platform
Weekly e-mail newsletter Q&As
Supporting articles outlining organization initiatives (e.g., Pass the Joy, Black History Month)
Qualifications:
5+ years of sports journalism experience; hockey experience preferred
Demonstrated ability to go beyond “covering” a sport to telling human interest stories
Strong understanding of multi-cultural and multi-generational audiences
Ability to apply a popular cultural lens to storytelling (i.e., going beyond hockey to focus on the personality and interests of our players)
Proven track record of managing projects on-time in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable in front of and behind the camera
Ability to travel between the Training Center (Westchester), MSG Arena, and other within the Tri-state
Ability to speak Russian, Swedish, or French a plus
