FHI 360’s Civil Society and Peacebuilding Department (CSPD) supports citizens to mobilize effectively to influence policy, improve lives, and build peace. CSPB works with civil society to increase its credibility, visibility and effectiveness by building its capacity to:
Engage with local government to increase its responsiveness to citizen needs;
Solve community problems, engage youth in civic affairs, and provide needed services to citizens;
Advocate for social justice, democratic reforms, human rights, and effective policies;
Leverage and/or produce media content, such as for online, radio, and television, to promote social dialogue and tolerance; and
Promote peaceful solutions to conflict and support peace negotiations.
CSPD seeks a Program Officer I (PO-I) with two to five years of professional experience, preferably in international development or with non-profits, to support and backstop current projects as well as new business development. Russian-language proficiency is required.
Job Summary:
Provides operational, logistical, and administrative support and limited technical assistance to programs focused on civil society strengthening, governance, peacebuilding, preventing violent extremism, and youth engagement. Collects, compiles, and analyzes information relevant to programs. In addition, supports communication efforts related to program management and execution (i.e., copy edit reports, write factsheets and/or assigned report sections). Ensures compliance with internal and external regulations. Helps ensure adherence to project monitoring and tracking systems for submission of deliverables. Helps review work plans, prepare presentations, and support other related program objectives and deliverables. Supports business development and proposal efforts.
Accountabilities:
Provides administrative support to programs, such as: writing, reviewing, and translating assigned reports or project materials, to ensure submission of high-quality deliverables;
Provides logistical, administrative and operational support to program management such as troubleshooting, updating work plans, coordinating travel arrangements (if/as permitted) and monitoring program activities;
Serves as the liaison for internal units, such as finance, contracts, centers, etc.;
Tracks performance against Financial Cost Objective (FCO) ID, project timelines, budget, objectives, and deliverables;
Facilitates communication by answering partner inquires and monitoring project websites;
Supports implementation and coordination of specific program activities and may conduct research to achieve program goals;
Works with Project Manager and/or other Program/Technical Officers and assists with developing budgets, proposals, managing grants, project materials, and information;
Collects, compiles and analyzes information relevant to the program, as needed and assigned;
Provides limited technical assistance and support to program, as requested;
Reviews and contributes to work plans for one or many programs;
Documents and shares project accomplishments, challenges, and lessons learned among internal and external partners; and
Supports business development and proposal efforts through tasks such as: background research, capability statements, writing assigned sections, copy-editing, etc.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent in one of the following related subjects:
Knowledge/Information Services, Communications, Education, Environment, Health, Behavioral, Life/Social Sciences, International Development, Human Development or Related Field.
Experience:
Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience supporting or backstopping programs or with program management, US Government rules and regulations.
Articulate and professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive fashion with clients and staff.
Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private organization.
Overseas experience desired.
Typical Physical Demands:
Typical office environment. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time; ability to lift 5-50 lbs.
