JIAS Toronto is currently recruiting for 5 contract positions to provide program support and data entry. These positions are funded by Canada Summer Jobs and require the incumbent to be between the ages of 18 to 30 years of age and be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment. These positions will pay $14.25 per hour.
Community Engagement Support is a part-time contract position up to 16 consecutive weeks. This position will be responsible for helping plan programs and webinars to engage the public in immigration/settlement issues. The will assist with communications aimed at outreach and community engagement as well as participate in meetings related to community partnerships and outreach.
Program Support for Newcomer Youth is a part-time and full-time contract position up to 16 consecutive weeks. This position will be responsible for helping plan and run upcoming youth programs such as JIAS Toronto’s Ready-for-School Program, Reading Club, and Youth Connect. This will include organizing and distributing supplies, communicating with and outreaching to volunteers and clients, and inputting data.
Program Support for Newcomer Seniors is a part-time contract position up to 23 consecutive weeks. This position will provide outreach and coordination for senior programs, such as JIAS Toronto’s Conversation Circles. In addition, this position will coordinate field trips (in-person or virtual) for seniors, coordinate friendly callers for isolated seniors, and assist with timely data entry.
Refugee Programs Support is a part time contract position from June to August 2021. This position will assist in planning and implementing programs for refugee communities as well as assisting volunteer outreach, recruitment, training, and orientation as needed.
Volunteer Engagement Support is a part-time contract position up to 23 consecutive weeks. This position will provide outreach to prospective volunteers, data management for volunteer applications, volunteer orientation, coordination of volunteer training, and assistance with programs employing volunteers.
Required Qualifications
Some post-secondary education or experience in Social Work, Social Services, or a related field, or a combination of relevant education, training and experience.
Experience working with newcomers, youth, and/or seniors
Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Strong organizational skills data entry skills
Fluency in Kurmanji, Tigrinya, Russian, and/or Hebrew is an asset
