This epidemiology position will develop comprehensive, reliable, and succinct information about the incidence, prevalence, distribution, and characteristics of health issues in Jefferson County, Colorado. They are responsible for carrying out a broad and complex range of investigative and analytical epidemiologic activities related to the surveillance, detection, and prevention of diseases and injuries, focusing primarily on utilizing qualitative data. They will work independently and as an experienced team member, providing epidemiologic expertise and complex individual epidemiologic analyses for assessment and surveillance purposes and to support JCPH programs. This includes developing and designing methods of collecting, analyzing, and disseminating data and requires understanding of program processes and methods for prevention, intervention, and control of diseases of public health importance.
Please note this position’s work schedule is flexible with the option of in-the-office and remote work. This position works the occasional evenings and weekends.
This position’s hiring range is $$56K to $72K annually.
As of 6/23/21 this position is limited to Covid-19 grant money and is currently a term limited position until July 2023. Intent is to develop sustainable funding to support organizational epidemiology capacity.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Conducts epidemiologic investigations, focusing on utilizing qualitative methods.
- Participates in surveillance activities, focusing on utilizing qualitative methods
- Provision of epidemiologic consultation on scientific and technical issues
- Develops and disseminates data and epidemiologic findings.
- Participates in administrative and program projects and activities (related to technical, scientific, and programmatic expertise)
- May assist with other activities that support the goals of the Office of Pandemic Response and the Emergency Preparedness and Response program
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Public Health, or closely related fields.
- At least one year of work-related experience in epidemiology including qualitative data collection, management, analysis, and reporting experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer more than 1-year experience in Epidemiology.
- Proficient at R, Tableau and/or RedCap applications
- Bilingual in Russian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, and/or Spanish

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
- Must have a valid driver’s license: You must have a valid Colorado driver’s license within 30 days of hire date, and you must not have any major violations, nor more than one DUI, DWI, DWAI conviction in the past three years.
- Must provide immunization record at time of interview or prove immunity within 30 days of hire to comply with departmental Communicable Disease Control Policy within 30 days of hire.
