The Oregon Health Authority (OHA), COVID Recovery and Response Unit (CRRU) in Portland, OR is recruiting for Contact Tracers (Public Service Representative 4) to work with individuals who may have been exposed to the COVID-19 virus. This recruitment will be used to fill eight (8) positions . The base position is located in Portland, Oregon with remote work capability for candidates that reside in Oregon or Washington, and can report onsite as needed.
This is a Full-Time, Limited Duration opportunity for anyone to apply. This is a classified position and is represented by a union. Limited duration positions are benefit eligible positions with a designated maximum length of service. This position is expected to last 24 months; however, it could end at any time or be extended. This recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies.
Current State of Oregon employees may have an option to apply as a job rotation. You must be a regular status or limited duration employee who has completed trial service.
What will you do?
As a Contact Tracer , you will provide support consisting of contact tracing and communication, and documentation to contacts who may have been infected through close contact with a COVID-19 case and monitor for the onset of symptoms suggesting possible active infection. You will be responsible for initiating prompt communication to possible contact exposures, maintaining confidentiality, identifying community settings that may require further investigation, monitoring contacts during quarantine, providing guidance on COVID-19 prevention measures, collaborating and ensuring expedited initiation of appropriate medical or social support services and documenting the information into health department data systems.

What are we looking for?
Minimum requirements : Three (3) years of experience performing public contact and/or customer service duties comparable to the work of a Public Service Representative.
At least two (2) years of this experience must include dealing with the public in-person or by phone providing information about services and programs; explaining rules, programs, and procedures; and/or providing assistance, explaining requirements, and gaining compliance.
Requested skills:
Preference may be given for experience providing service in an area of specialization specific to the position opening.
Preference will be given to applicants who are bilingual (Spanish, Russian, Somali, Vietnamese, Marshallese, etc.).
Experience conducting interviews, in-person or via telephone, data collection and entry.
Experience with health education, trauma informed care, community outreach, linkage to care, social services or other public health services.
Experience in customer service industry preferably related to public health.
Experience demonstrating strong time management skills (organization, prioritization, multitasking).
Experience demonstrating strong verbal and written communication skills.
Experience partnering with, building, stewarding relationships or working with individuals from diverse backgrounds which may include people with limited English proficiency, the disability community, including people with behavioral health conditions, communities of color, immigrants and refugees and other historically marginalized communities.
Experience in maintaining confidentiality while using discretion and ethical conduct.
Experience using critical thinking and problem-solving skills in responding to client issues and concerns.
Experience working effectively with all levels of staff, while working independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, establishing and maintaining collaborative professional relationships.
Experience promoting a culturally competent and diverse work environment.
Working Conditions
Required to have and maintain a remote working office which includes internet access provided by the employee. The base position is located in Portland, Oregon with remote work capability for candidates that reside in Oregon or Washington, and can report onsite as needed. Some travel may be required.
