German Russian & Asian Chair – JM (Robin Miller)
The Department of German, Russian, and Asian Languages and Literature at Brandeis University seeks an instructor for JAPN40B Advanced Intermediate Japanese (four credits) and JAPN105B Advanced Conversation and Composition II (four credits) in the Spring 2022 semester. This is a one-semester position that starts in February.
JAPN40B is the second semester of intermediate Japanese. Each section of the class meets four days per week for a total of four class hours per week. JAPN105B is the second semester of advanced Japanese. Responsibilities include teaching two sections of JAPN40B and one JAPN105B and supervising course assistants and peer tutors. The course will be in-person, though the instructor may need to offer a hybrid version in order to accommodate students unable to travel to campus.
Requirements include a master’s degree in a related field, native or near-native proficiency in Japanese, and evidence of experience and commitment to language teaching in U.S. universities. This appointment is to a position that is in a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509.
